I’m so glad you arrived!
The center was created as a place for healing, spiritual exploration, personal growth, creativity, and meaningful community connection. It is my belief that transformation unfolds in many ways and through many doorways: through story, through spiritual practice, through creativity, through challenge, through deep self reflection, and through our relationship with the living world around us.
My own path into this work has been lifelong and deeply experiential, shaped through decades of study, spiritual practice, teaching, creativity, healing work, and personal transformation.
The Shamanic Path
My formal shamanic training began in 1989 through one of the earlier generations of practitioners connected to the teachings of Michael Harner and the Foundation for Shamanic Studies. I studied within a dedicated community of practitioners on Martha’s Vineyard where we gathered regularly over several years to deepen our understanding and practice of shamanic healing traditions.
Over the decades my studies continued through multiple shamanic frameworks and traditions including Siberian Shamanism with Steven Serr and Peruvian Shamanism connected to the teachings and lineage associated with Alberto Villoldo.
I also worked personally with shaman Foster Perry of Golden Hummingbird Medicine for over thirteen years as part of an ongoing path of spiritual development, healing, and personal transformation.
What I offer through my work is multicultural in perspective and experiential in nature. My approach to shamanic healing draws from years of study, practice, spiritual exploration, intuitive development, creativity, and lived experience. I believe the shamanic path is ultimately a path of relationship: relationship with Spirit, with self, with nature, with story, with healing, and with the deeper mystery of life itself.
Intuition & Spiritual Development
For four years I trained intensively with Psychic Medium David Merritt on Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts. Together with a dedicated circle of students, I studied mediumship, clairvoyance, clairaudience, clairsentience, aura reading, psychic knowing, and intuitive development.
These experiences deepened my understanding of symbolic language, energetic awareness, and intuitive perception, and became an important part of the broader healing work I offer today.
Over time I have come to view intuition not as performance, but as deep listening: a respectful practice of presence, perception, and relationship with Spirit.
The Teacher
Education and human development have also been foundational threads throughout my life.
I began teaching in the early 1980s out of a deep love for imagination, expression, creativity, and the human spirit. Early in my career I developed arts-based summer programs throughout New England focused on performance, storytelling, visual arts, and creative exploration for children and adolescents. Over time this work expanded into programs and classes for adults through continuing education and independent studio teaching.
I later spent nearly three decades working as a middle and high school special education teacher supporting students challenged by learning disabilities as well as emotional and behavioral struggles. This work profoundly shaped my understanding of resilience, emotional healing, trauma, creativity, and the importance of meeting people with compassion and respect.
My desire to deepen my understanding of healing and emotional support eventually led me back to graduate school where I earned an additional Master’s Degree in Social Work. This gave me the professional training and skills to work with clients. It provided me the understanding that it is my responsibility as facilitator of healing work with clients to tend to my own inner journey of healing and growth in this role as Shamanic Practitioner and to diligently walk this path in integrity, compassion, and in respect of clients dignity. Also in my internship at The Taunton State Psychiatric Hospital in Massachusetts, during my Master’s of Social Work training, I learned the vitalness of knowing truly that everyone is ultimately a seed of the Divine and within them resides that perfect blueprint of who they truly are. This points to the unlimited potential available to us to thrive and to embody wholeness.
Art, Creativity & Healing
Art has been one of the great companions and healing forces throughout my life.
Over the years I have explored many creative paths including painting, writing, costume design, directing theatre productions, acting, and visual storytelling. Creativity has always felt deeply connected to healing for me and remains an important part of both my spiritual practice and my work with others.
My artwork has been exhibited publicly and has also been used educationally to help bring awareness and understanding to trauma, PTSD, healing, and the transformative potential of EMDR therapy.
For many years I also worked extensively as a costume designer for theatre productions throughout New England including work with The Vineyard Playhouse, Island Theatre Workshop, school productions, independent directors, and my own theatrical productions.
I believe creativity opens important doorways into self awareness, imagination, healing, transformation, and the deeper inner life.
The Founding of The Center for Personal Evolution
As I approached my twenty-seventh year in education, I began feeling called toward a different chapter of life and work.
Over time I realized I carried within me a lifetime of experiences, teachings, spiritual practices, creative work, and healing perspectives that longed to be shared in a broader and more integrated way outside the traditional educational system.
That calling eventually led to the founding of The Center for Personal Evolution in 2012 on Cape Cod in Massachusetts.
In the years that followed, the center evolved through several chapters and locations including North Carolina, Virginia, and eventually Stuart, Florida where the work continues today.
The vision for CPE has always been rooted in creating meaningful opportunities for healing, spiritual exploration, creativity, transformation, and authentic human connection.
Story
I have long believed that story lives inside almost everything.
Each person carries a story. Every life contains seasons of challenge, loss, growth, transformation, healing, and awakening. Over the years I have come to understand that many of our experiences, even the painful ones, hold meaning and can become part of a deeper unfolding journey toward self understanding and wholeness.
This understanding became one of the inspirations behind my long-standing workshop, Your Mythic Journey, a workshop developed through my own personal growth and healing journey and taught for many years as a way of helping others explore the deeper meaning, symbolism, and transformative potential within their own life stories.
I believe there is wisdom in learning to hold both the light and shadow aspects of our experiences with compassion and awareness, and in discovering that even difficult chapters can become part of a larger story of growth and transformation.
Closing
The longer I walk this path, the more I return to the same simple understanding: healing matters, creativity matters, story matters, and human beings need spaces where they can explore themselves honestly, spiritually, and compassionately.
My hope is that The Center for Personal Evolution offers such a space.
Whether someone arrives seeking healing, understanding, spiritual connection, creativity, personal growth, or simply a quiet place to reconnect with themselves, it is my hope that they feel welcomed here.

The Center for Personal Evolution’s mission is to bring a variety of experiences that promote personal growth, inquisitiveness, and creativity with the aim of building a community of like minded people through classes, retreats, workshops, and community wide events that raise money for meaningful causes that are in line with our mission as a center. At the Center for Personal Evolution (CPE) we offer a wide variety of opportunities for spiritual and personal growth that support the evolution of your inner self. Please check out our calendar for current classes, workshops and events. Our core values focus on providing classes, workshops, personal services, and community events that foster and nurture a sense of inner wisdom and resourcing. Assisting and supporting individuals to build and bolster an inner connection to their higher self, inner strengths and to the Divine (however that is valued or unfolds for an individual) is our most treasured value and motivation.
Each of us builds our own road to health, spiritual connectedness, and joy. With this understanding the center looks to provide opportunities that will invite inquiry, healing, and connection through a variety of experiences. Our classes and workshops operate in small groups and small gatherings so that connection to others and self is optimized and encouraged. The use of art and meditation is commonly employed in our classes, circles, and workshops so that our core values are reached in the utilization of these tools.
